Manchester United 3 Newcastle United 2  – Saturday 6 October 5.30pm

We asked a number of our regular writers to give us their reaction after the game.

Newcastle now making it nine games (in all competitions) without a win.

However, very much a case of what might have been…

Jamie Swan:

“Never wanted a part of a story today of which I’ve got no interest.

“Not one toss given about some team every daft southern tit calls United and a sour faced tart of a manager called Jose supposedly getting the boot.

“Yet somehow we still ended up giving them dribbling hacks every word of verbal diarrhea for the next eon.

“Me gut told us that it wouldn’t be a good visit.  But please not this way man. Cruel, cruel bast…s.

“Stick it up ya backsides.

“The likes of Pogba and Sanchez make me want to vomit and despise modern football and for that poisoned dwarf to win it, just compounds the nausea.

“Gutted for the lads, gutted for the fans and gutted for the manager.

“Our very limited team desperately need 3 points, and we could have easily been three or four up at one point. No penalty given – surprise!

“But as soon as Diame did that stupid trip and we end up conceding the first the writing was on the wall.

“For as brave as we had been before subs, we shrank backwards and Murphy and Atsu were as likely to repeat the early swashbuckle as me after two Chicken Chow Meins and six Guinness.

“Only one man to blame for a bench so poor and that is not Rafa. B&Q have got better quality benches.

“I’m so full of pride for the first 70 mins, pi.. and vinegar from the last 20 mins – that I’m confused.

“Seeing Ashley’s gurning dial and his merry band of mugs make a me want to kick me telly in.”

Paul Patterson:

“At 1-2, even Stevie Wonder saw that coming…”

Jamie Smith:

“That’s impossibly hard to take.

“Good news for the sad cases of the world, as Essex, Africa and the students of the Home Counties gleefully celebrated our demise to a tw.tful excuse of a club that no more represents its area than Old El Paso does Mexico.

“Good performance but difficult to take defeat from such a strong position.”

George Stainsby:

“We’ll play worse than that and hopefully win.

“Man Utd were poor in the first half but we played with a plan.

“Two was never going to be enough.

“Still gutting, but a bit more hopeful.

Will Ashley spend in January? Nope.”

Nat Seaton:

“Same old Newcastle…

“A gut-wrenching defeat and hard to take.

“We played better than previous matches, but the bottom line is we did not have the quality to win from a 2-0 half time lead.”

Ben Cooper:

“I enjoyed it overall.

“It was an entertaining game.

“We were hanging on for a long time and it was no suprise to lose in the end but I went, saw an attacking game, and enjoyed myself.

“The subs changed the result.

“They had good ones that made a contribution, ours were rubbish and made our team worse.

“Still, better than last week.”

David Punton:

“Absolutely devastated.

“A gut wrenching defeat as the win is snatched away.

“We may never get a better chance to triumph at this theatre of nightmares for Mags.

“We’re in real trouble. Such an horrific and heartbreaking way to lose any game of football.”

Jack Lacey-Hatton:

“Every time we take the lead at the top sides you know what’s coming.

“Complete bottlejob again when they should have been 3 up and out of sight. Huge difference between 2-0 and 3-0 shown tonight.

“An awful collapse but totally predictable. Why do we always do this against the big sides away from home.

“A pathetic effort after the third goal went in as well. Just hoof it to Joselu, great idea.”

Toon Bano:

“I have been a Newcastle man for some 23 years.

“I’ve witnessed every result and every feeling throughout that time

“There is only one word to describe that…

“Inevitable.”
