Newcastle v Everton player ratings by fans – Surprising man of the match but other marks not such a surprise…

The results of the Newcastle v Everton player ratings by fans.

Always interested to see what supporters have collectively made of the latest performance, when using our interactive ratings system.

Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.

It would be difficult to pick any player out really as Newcastle’s man of the match against Everton.

If pushed I thought two players did ok and showed the rest of them a decent example.

Sure enough the fans’ collective vote gave Jamaal Lascelles 6.0 and DeAndre Yedlin 5.9.

Not brilliant scores but half respectable on a bad night all round for Newcastle.

Lascelles doing well at the back generally, whilst Yedlin was Newcastle’s most dangerous player going forward through sheer determination.

However, supporter gave one player a higher mark than the pair and that was Mikel Merino with 6.3. I like the midfielder but despite hitting the post with a glorious shot from getting on for 35 yards, I didn’t think he was at his best.

As for the very lowest marks, some were seriously low.

Mohamed Diame (2.2) is a mystery to fans, with seemingly nobody seeing any value at all from having him in the team.

Not far behind last night was Karl Darlow, who followed up a poor game against Leicester with a horrendous error that gifted the game to Everton.

Jonjo Shelvey £3.6) completed a trio of worst performers, an ineffectual game topped by a very stupid late red card in the final seconds.

Elsewhere, two other players managed a rating of 5.0 or better, with wingers Christian Atsu (5.3) and Matt Ritchie (5.2) a little better than most around them.

Maybe a little harsh on Dwight Gayle (4.3) with next to no decent service up front, or help from Diame.

Whilst at the back, Javier Manquillo (4.8) and Florian Lejeune (4.3) continue to struggle to convince they can do it in the top tier.

As for the subs, fans saw little encouragement there either.

Here’s hoping for better at Arsenal…
